The Morija Mountain Bike Challenge will be happening on November 13 2011. The race, which is divided into 30km and 65 km (The longer 65km course is compulsory for all Lesotho Sky Teams) takes place in and around Morija and is open to the public.
Family, friends and supporters are encouraged to register on the day for any of the distances. The course will take you on a circular route starting and ending in Morija. A rather flat and fast course will give you the chance to acclimatise and loosen your legs before taking on the Maloti mountains.
The organisers of these two races, which have attracted mountain bikers from all over the world, have combined their efforts to highlight the sport and instil the love of it in Basotho. Lesotho is also an ideal place for mountain biking because of its rugged terrain.
The Morija MTB challenge will form day 1 of the Lesotho Sky. On this day the cyclists will compete over 30 km and 60 km with the overall winner riding away with M1000.00.
The Lesotho Sky contestants will then continue on into the highlands on the way to Mohale Dam.
Morija is not only the cultural hub of Lesotho but also offers many other activities than just mountain biking, bring your beloved ones along for an adventure weekend…
