The World Luxury Hotel Awards is a recognized global organization providing luxury hotels with recognition for their world class facilities and service excellence provided to guests.
The glittering gala ceremony of the awards will be held at Pan Pacific Kuala Lumpur. “The hotel is chosen because it is conveniently located next to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport,” says Marinique de Wet, the event executive manager.
Previous hosts for the annual event, which began five years ago, included Thailand, Croatia and South Africa. Marinique added that the gala dinner will be followed by the ITB Asia (a three-day trade show from Oct 17 to 19) across the Causeway.
“The location of this year’s event is ideal since a hotel representative can fly in to Kuala Lumpur to attend the event and head out to Singapore to attend ITB Asia a few days later.”
Marinique says the gala dinner offers a great networking opportunity, where leaders in the hotel industry will have the opportunity to connect and celebrate their achievements.
The awards show will see hotels from 61 countries rewarded in 29 categories. More than 1,500 hotels have been nominated for the World Luxury Hotel Awards this year.
Over 1,000 hotels, lodges, resorts and private islands are nominated every year. This year records a 50 per cent increase in the number of hotels participating in the event.
“Hotels can self-nominate if operating in a luxury niche market, or be nominated to receive recognition for service excellence by guests, tour operators, independent travel consultants,” she says.
“What is great is that aside from hotel guests who can vote on an annual basis, the judging process is not dependant on a board of directors, but by the industry itself in order for the voting system to be fair.”
